THE PRODUCER
Grupo Terruño Nayarita (GTNAY) is a producer organization that helps coffee producer members in various communities raise quality and process efficiency in search of long-term sustainability.
Cherries for this lot were sourced from smallholder farms in the following communities of Nayarit: El Cuarenteno, La Yerba, Cofradia de Chocolon, and Huaynamota.
THE PROCESS
Portions of this lot were naturally processed at different wet mills in the Nayarit area before all being blended and finished at El Duende dry mill.
This lot is made up of peaberries from different varietals. A peaberry is a natural mutation occurring in around 5% of coffee where the cherry grows one single round seed instead of the usual two flat seeds. The peaberry seed is denser and receives all the nutrients usually intended for two seeds. The distinction of S-11 refers to the screen size used in sorting the peaberries.
WHY WE LOVE IT
When we first cupped this coffee, it stood out to us for its unique combination of nutty sweetness and tropical high notes. We love sipping on this coffee black just as much as we love drinking it in a latte.
